Saw Palmetto Tea Benefits

Saw Palmetto Tea Benefits have been in the consciousness of American consumers as being specifically geared toward male problems involving the prostate and urinary tract.

Saw Palmetto is a small palm that grows about 2 to 4 feet high. Saw Palmetto has a sprawling trunk, and grows in dense thickets in sandy coastal lands or as undergrowth in pine woods or hardwood hammocks. Saw Palmetto is native to the sandy flatlands of the southeastern United States ranging from the South Carolina area to Southern Texas.

The fruits of the saw palmetto have high concentrations of fatty acids and phytosterols, beta-sitosterol, capric acid, ferulic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid.

The extract of the saw palmetto fruit has been the subject of intensive research for the treatment of urinary tract infections.

Saw Palmetto can be taken in the form of tincture, capsules, tablets, soft gels, and tea. Researchers and experts agree that of all the saw palmetto supplement forms, the saw palmetto tea may be the least effective as the active oily compounds of saw palmetto do not really dissolve in water.

Still, saw palmetto tea may be one of the more convenient ways to take the herb and there are saw palmetto tea bags available in the market. The saw palmetto tea bag is usually added to boiling water and left to steep for about 3 minutes.

The following are the health benefits attributed to Saw Palmetto:

Saw Palmetto may help heal benign prostate enlargement and prostatitis.

Saw Palmetto may help gently stimulate urination, causing the infectious microorganisms                   to be "flushed out" with urine.

Saw Palmetto may be useful in helping fight persistent coughs.

Saw Palmetto may be helpful in countering certain digestive problems.
