This variant of oolong tea comes from the Xinzhu County in Taiwan. Bai Hao oolong tea leaves are typically plucked during the early summer months. It is picked about 1 month later than other oolongs in the region. Once picked, these undergo higher degrees of oxidation that most other oolong teas.


The leaves of this tea have a darker shade although one can make out subdued tones of multi-hued colors hidden within the darker shade. It normally has white colored tips.


Bai Hao oolong tea has a flavor that contains notes of peach, orange, nuts and honey with distinctly floral undertones. Due to this unique flavor, many drinkers often mistake this as being artificially-flavored. But these flavors naturally come with the tea and are typically retained in the palate hours after the tea has been taken.


To enjoy the tea, fill a teapot with about a handful of dried bai hao oolong tea leaves. Steep in boiling water, then let it stand for about 5 to 7 minutes. Strain the leaves before drinking.
