Ali Shan oolong tea benefits are very similar to those of the other teas that come from the camellia sinensis plant, which is where all true teas come from.


Ali Shan oolong tea is a semi-oxidized tea grown on the slopes of the Ali Mountain found in the Jiayi County in central Taiwan. It is a very broad area that is divided into many different tea producing areas. The more famous areas for producing ali shan oolong tea are Zhong Shu Hu and Shi Zuo.


The tea grows in altitudes of up to 2,000 meters above sea level. The fog-laden, cold temperature surroundings of the area lend themselves perfectly to growing this renowned tea. Fresh mountain spring water is used to irrigate the tea farms.


Ali Shan oolong tea is typically picked in April and May. Due to this rather late picking, the leaves contain more oils in them and thus give the tea its uniquely wonderful flavor and aroma.


When brewed, ali shan oolong tea exudes a pale yellow color, a faintly fresh aroma, and a smooth and slightly sweet flavor. Its flavor is said to be reminiscent of a blend of fruits and flowers. It leaves a faintly sweet aftertaste.


It is considered one of the superior oolong teas.


To make a good cup of this tea, place about 2 teaspoons of the dried leaves in about 5 ounces of 185-195°F or 85-90°C temperature water. Let the mix stand for about 3 to 5 minutes. The tea can be brewed multiple times.
